Dr. Jonathan Hall co-organized the 8th Annual CHHE Symposium “Perinatal Environmental Exposures and Later Life Disease: Biological Targets & Mechanisms” held at NC State University Talley Student Union.

Emma Tobin presented her poster titled “C/EBPβ Mediates Keratinocyte Apoptosis after UVB-induced DNA Damage via Regulation of the Type I IFN Response and Extrinsic Apoptosis” at the annual North Carolina Society of Toxicology meeting.

An NIH R01 grant by Dr. Hall was funded by the National Institute of Arthritis Musculoskeletal and Skin Disease (NIAMS) to continue our work on understanding the role of C/EBPB β and the innate immune pathway in cutaneous responses to environmental stressors.

Ayushma Sharma participated in the NCSU undergraduate research symposium on April 26, 2023. Her poster was titled: “The Loss of CCAAT Enhancing Protein β (C/EBPβ) Activates Caspase-mediated Regulated Cell Death in Response to UVB Induced DNA Damage”. Congratulations Ayushma on a great poster!

Dr. Jonathan Hall and undergraduate student Sophia Gray published a peer-reviewed article in Innate Immunity titled: C/EBPβ deficiency enhances the keratinocyte innate immune response to direct activators of cytosolic pattern recognition receptors on April 24, 2023. This is Sophia’s first peer-reviewed publication, congratulations Sophia!
Emma Tobin participated in the NCSU graduate research symposium on April 5th, 2023. Her poster was titled: “The Role of C/EBPβ in Keratinocyte Regulated Cell Death after DNA Damage”.

Sophia Gray participated in the NCSU undergraduate research symposium where she presented her poster titled: “C/EBPβ Suppressed the Type-1 Interferon Response to Inhibit Caspase-8 Mediated Apoptosis in Response to DNA Damage”. Great job, Sophia!
